For Sarah Neufeld’s (Arcade Fire, Bell Orchestre) solo album I was struck by the intensity and grace of the music and wanted to contrast the title with imagery that was hopeful but also layered and dark. I created digital collages by layering images of dutch still life paintings together, manipulating and replacing the original color and pushing the images until they blended and broke apart. When viewed from a distance the image resolves into a floral arrangement but when viewed close up the flowers start to merge into one another and break up in unexpected ways. For the back cover and singles art I created additional layered collages that were combined with portraits of Sarah.

Colin Stetson / All This I Do For Glory

After a few discussions with Colin about the album we settled on using a skull as the main visual element as well as an idea to create patterns with the antlers. Inspired by the organic looping and repetition of his music, I photographed the skull from every angle and composited the images together to form a skull that is part fossil, part melted bone.
